CP42 vs CP12: what is the difference?
Both are gas safety records, but they apply to different types of premises and are carried out by engineers with different qualifications.
CP12: domestic
The CP12 is the landlord gas safety record for homes, such as rented houses and flats. It covers boilers, gas fires and domestic cookers.
CP42: commercial catering
The CP42 is for fixed commercial kitchens, such as restaurants, pubs, cafés, hotels, schools and care homes. It covers commercial catering appliances, pipework, ventilation and gas interlocks. The engineer must hold commercial catering competences on their Gas Safe ID card.
And the CP44?
The CP44 is the equivalent record for mobile catering units, such as food trucks and trailers, which usually run on LPG.
