CP42 inspection checklist
A little preparation makes your CP42 inspection quicker and helps avoid a fail. Here is what the engineer checks, and what you can do beforehand.
What the engineer checks
- Every gas appliance: ranges, ovens, fryers, grills, bratt pans, combi ovens and boiling pans
- Flame failure devices on each appliance
- Gas tightness of the installation
- Ventilation and extraction rates
- The gas interlock between the extraction and the gas supply
- The emergency isolation valve and its labelling
- Flexible hoses, restraint cables and connections
How to prepare
- Make sure the engineer can reach every appliance and the gas meter
- Know where your emergency gas isolation valve is
- Clean the canopy filters, since heavy grease can affect the ventilation check
- Have your last CP42 to hand, if you have one
- Book a time before or after service to keep disruption low
Common reasons for a fail
The most common issues are a missing or faulty gas interlock, flame failure devices not working, damaged flexible hoses or missing restraint cables, and poor ventilation. See our guide to gas interlocks.
